Ten years of Blessings

Get to know our teachers…

 Two Year Olds

Hello, my name is Bridget Whitley.   I am 33 years old and I have worked for CLC since April 2012.  I have three children, Zachary, Zoey, and Zaiden.  Zachary and Zoey are students at Lafayette Elementary and my youngest is in the Toddler class here at CLC.  When I am not at work, I am busy taking care of my family. They keep me very busy, but if I ever get a day to myself I like to go shopping, watch movies and take a nap.

I am the lead teacher in our two year old class.  We have a blast learning together.  My kids are very smart; and as soon as I think a child is not paying attention they can repeat everything I have said or done.  My class is funny too. One of my funniest memories is when a child in my class would go to the potty, she always shouted out, “Score” when she was done.  It is no surprise this child has a sports loving big brother.  As a teacher my favorite subject to teach is Science.  I love to see their expressions when we do class science experiments.  Their favorite experiment is the eruption of the volcano. We talk about what they think will happen before we do experiments and it’s fun to watch their reactions.   I praise my class my saying, “Awesome job” and “I love you.”  We read a Bible story every day.  My favorite Bible lesson to teach is “Jesus is Born.” This is a favorite of the class too.  They really seem to understand and can recite the story almost word for word.  It is awesome to teach the real meaning of Christmas.  Our class likes to sing our favorite Bible verse from Psalms 118:24: This is the day the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be glad in it, and when we are all just hanging out the class will always ask to turn on the music and dance.

I have worked at CLC for six years and I love it.  I get to love and teach children, and share in their childhood memories.  My kid’s smiles will brighten a gloomy day and when they tell me they love me it melts my heart.   Along with great kids, I get to work with a bunch of great coworkers.

My advice to a new teacher is to have plenty of patience, breathe and remember no teachers is perfect.  My favorite bible verse Isaiah 4:10: Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  My favorite quote is “Keep your head up, God gives His hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.”

A few things on my bucket list are

  • Travel
  • Buy a home
  • Win a lottery
